LOVS recognizes the urgent need to support young people of color who have witnessed or experienced violence, and or are triggered by environmental stressors such as impoverished or violent neighborhoods. In Los Angeles County, African American and Latino youth (ages 10-18) are up to 18 times more likely to be victims of violent crime than their White peers—yet more than 90% receive NO support to heal from these traumatic experiences. SHIFT was created to change that.
SHIFT is designed to help young males and females of color heal from trauma, develop essential life skills, and build a brighter future. Through free trauma-focused therapy and life skills education, we empower youth to move forward with confidence and resilience.
Our License therapists, Interns provide individual therapy to help participants manage and reduce trauma-related symptoms in a safe, supportive space.
Success requires more than academic knowledge. SHIFT teaches real-world skills that aren’t always covered in school, including
